NHS drama presents The Importance of Being Earnest this weekend
Newark High School drama will present "The Importance of Being Earnest" at 7 p.m. on Nov. 16 and 17 in the NHS auditorium. Tickets are $10 for general admission or $5 for students and seniors. An additional understudy performance will be presented at 3 p.m. on Nov. 17, for free.   Read More...

District to add text messages to all-call service
With winter approaching, the Newark City School District is adding text messages to our notification service. The district uses SchoolMessenger to communicate important messages to families, including closings, delays and other announcements. Beginning on November 19, text messages will be added to the ways we communicate with families. At 5 p.m. on Nov. 19, families with cell phones will receive a text message from the number, 67587, asking if they would like to receive text messages. Charpie receives Leaders for Learning Award
Fourth-year Newark High School English teacher Alison Charpie was awarded with the Licking County Foundation's Leaders for Learning Award for 2018. Superintendent Doug Ute, Principal Tom Bowman and representatives from the foundation presented Charpie with the award. The Leaders for Learning Award was created by the Licking County Foundation in 1993 to honor school teachers who exemplify excellence in their fields.  Read More...
