Newark City Schools is looking for your thoughts and feelings about the district. Please take a short survey, here, that simply asks: What are the first four words that come to mind when you think of Newark City Schools? Thank you for your feedback.

On Monday, June 10, the Newark Board of Education approved the changing of John Clem Elementary’s boundary lines — the first adjustment that has been made to the boundaries in the district since they were redrawn four years ago. All students who live north of English Avenue between 21st Street and Mount Vernon Road, or further north along Mount Vernon, will now attend Hillview Elementary.

237 students were awarded certificates of completion at the 40th Annual C-TEC Honors Program on May 24, 2013, according to the school. An audience of over 1,400 parents, friends, home school educators and representatives from business and industry looked on as over 100 special awards were presented during the ceremony. More than $372,000 in scholarship money was awarded to the Class of 2013 during the evening’s ceremony.

The Newark High School Class of 2013 graduated on June 1. Find the program, with graduate names and awards, here. Find a Facebook photo gallery here.
