NHS holding College Credit Plus meeting for middle, high school students
NHS holding College Credit Plus meeting for middle, high school students Newark High School is holding an informational meeting about College Credit Plus for any “college-ready” student going into grades 7-12 next school year. Through this program, students are able to earn dual credit for high school and college courses. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Room 314G at Newark High School, in the administrative Hub. 
Incoming 7th grade student vaccination requirements
If your child is currently in 6th grade, and will be entering 7th grade next school year, Ohio law requires all incoming 7th grade students to have the Tdap and Meningitis vaccine prior to the beginning of the 2016-17 school year. Your child may go through your own healthcare provider or through the Licking County Health Department. As your child receives the vaccines, please send a copy to his/her school so that the school may update student records. If you have additional questions, please review this letter for more information. 
Newark Volleyball to host Mini Clinics
Newark Wildcat Volleyball is holding a series of mini clinics for girls in 3rd through 8 grades on Feb. 27, March 5 and March 12 in the Newark High School gym. The clinics cost a total of $20 for the three days, and attendees will receive a T-shirt and one-on-one instruction. Please see this form for more information. Three Newark teachers receive travel grant
Three Newark City Schools teachers recently received a Tibbie Leslie Travel grant through the Licking County Foundation. Newark High School art teacher Melinda Bucholz will travel to London; science teacher Alex Schneider will travel to Vancouver; and Cherry Valley and McGuffey art teacher Emily Cline will travel to Mexico. The Licking County Foundation will award seven travel grants to teachers countywide this year, totaling $13,000. 
Mark your calendar for the next PACE Meeting
Parents who are seeking guidance in how to deal with child disobedience are invited to a workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16. Newark City Schools’ Parents Advocating for Children with Exceptional Abilities (PACE) program is hosting a Dealing with Disobedience Discussion Group at The Roosevelt Building, 621 Mount Vernon Road. 
Help Carson class receive iPad minis for instruction
Carson Elementary kindergarten teacher Angie Lamp is trying to raise money to purchase iPad Minis to use in her class to help students improve their reading. Through the website DonorsChoose, Ms. Lamp is trying to raise more than $1,000 to purchase three iPad Minis and accessories for classroom usage.
