Hello! My name is Mrs. Jessica Skinner, and I am the Art teacher here at Wilson. I wanted to let you know a little more about myself.
I have been married to my wonderful husband since June 2010. I also have a puppy named Zoe; she is almost 2 years old. She is a German Sheppard & Belgian Shepard mix. I am the oldest of 3 girls and the proud Aunt to my almost 4 year old nephew Brayden and soon to have another nephew in December. My dad is a Math teacher here at Wilson, and my mom is a stay at home mom.
I grew up in a little town in Northern Perry County called Thornville, Ohio. (Yes, it is small, and if you blink you may miss it.) I went to Northern Local from Kindergarten through 12th grade which I graduated from Sheridan High School in 2000. I am a GENERAL or as the local kids call us “Children of the Corn”. Our High School is surrounded by a corn field as is much of Perry County.
I then went on to college at THE OHIO UNIVERSITY. GO BOBCATS!!! I graduated from OU in 2004 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Printmaking. I later became a substitute teacher for the 2004-2005 school year, and it wasn’t till then that I discovered my true passion, TEACHING! I went back to school at Ashland University through their Bachelor’s Plus Program, which I earned my Teaching License in Art in 2007.
This is my 5th year of teaching, and my 4th year as the full-time Art Teacher at Wilson. During my first year of teaching I traveled to Wilson and Liberty teaching Adaptive Art. I also taught art to Kindergartners at all the elementary schools. Though I loved the Kindergartners, I love having a home at Wilson, and teaching middle school students.
In my free time, I like to ride with my husband on our motorcycle, playing with my dog, hanging out with friends and family, watching TV, listing to music, creating art, going to art galleries or museums, learning a new art technique to show in my art classes, and cooking (or as my mom would call it concoctions),
If there is anything I could do for your student please don’t hesitate to call or email me.
