I am a proud Wilson Tiger who teaches 7th grade intervention reading and math. Teaching is the only job I ever wanted! I am a 1995 Kent State Graduate. After graduating from Kent State I moved to Mayfield Village to work as a job coach for Mayfield City Schools. In 2000 I moved back to Newark to be closer to my Mom, Dad and brother and his family. That is when I landed my job with Newark City Schools. This is my 13th year of teaching at Wilson Middle School. When I am not working I love to spend time with my family and friends, go on walks, decorate my house and go shopping! My favorite time of year is fall; it is the start of a new school year and time to get out all of my harvest decorations.
My husband, Herk Kashner, and I both grew up in Newark and graduated from Newark High School in 1991. We also both went to the “old” Roosevelt. I went to elementary at Miller and Herk went to Johnny Clem. He was very involved in football and wrestling and I was involved in cheerleading, dance and volleyball. We got married in 2001. We have two wonderful boys. Will is 6 years old and Garrett is 9 years old. Both boys attend school at Johnny Clem Elementary. Will loves to play soccer, play the Wii and play with his action figures; he also learned how to ski last winter. Garrett is very involved at Johnny Clem. In his spare time, Garrett likes to play soccer, baseball and ski. I could not be any more proud of my family!
