With spring approaching, it’s now time to start thinking about registering your child for kindergarten. Newark City Schools is holding its annual Kindergarten Registration period from April 15 through 26 at the district office, located at 621 Mount Vernon Road in Newark.
Parents can register their children for kindergarten between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. It is helpful to register as many students as possible during this time to allow the district to plan for the 2019-20 school year. On Wed., April 17 and 24, registration will be open until 7 p.m. to accommodate later schedules.
Children who turn 5 years old by September 30 of this year are eligible to enter kindergarten for the 2019-20 school year. Registration forms are available at the district website by clicking this link, and may be filled out ahead of time. Please allow 30 minutes to fill out the forms in the office, and to complete the registration process. Students do not need to be present to register for kindergarten. However, we will be conducting vision and hearing screenings if parents bring their children to the registration.
To register a student at Newark City Schools, parents need to bring the following information and documents for their children with them:
- Birth Certificate
- Photo ID for Custodial Parent
- Current immunization record
- Child Custody Records, if applicable
- Proof of Residency (such as a paid utility bill, lease, etc.)
If you have any questions prior to registration, please contact Mary Lollo at email@example.com or 740-670-7008.
