NHS earns 2014 American Legion Auxiliary All American High School Award for Ohio

Newark High School recently earned the American Legion Auxiliary All American High School Award at the state level.

The NHS Air Force JROTC competed in the American Legion Auxiliary All American High School Contest that led to the award.

As part of the process, NHS proved its Americanism through the following ways: U.S. flag display; daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance; participation in the National Americanism Essay Contest; numerous presentations of the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance; History of the U.S. Flag and flag etiquette; staff patriotic pride; and providing leadership in many patriotic community events.

All of this was supported by a 100-word statement defending our receipt of the award complete with a photo album documenting the many aspects of the school's Americanism efforts.
