Technology Department

Newark City Schools has a centralized technology department and district technology committee members who assist with technology initiatives at each of our 12 schools and 16 total buildings.

The Information Technology (IT) team strives to support the mission and vision of Newark City Schools by providing a knowledgable, customer service-oriented technical team; leading-edge classroom technologies; highly efficient, high-speed network operations; cost-effective hardware or software solutions; and strategies to meet district instructional, administrative, technology and financial goals.

Newark City Schools maintains a District Technology Committee filled with 25 teachers, administrators and staff members who meet once a month during the school year to discuss the direction of IT initiatives and projects district-wide. The monthly meeting provides opportunities for individual school technology representatives to address technical concerns and to participate in technology support and testing.

Newark City Schools provides a computer for all students in grades K-12, with students in grades 4 through 12 taking them home throughout the year.
