Personnel Department

The Human Resources department is dedicated to the recruitment and retention of a quality workforce in support of student success. The Newark school district employs more than 800 people, including teachers, support staff and administrators who provide services to nearly 6,500 students.

As we work to hire and retain a qualified staff, the goal of the Human Resources department is to provide excellent customer service and to build a team of professionals who are passionate about the success of students and who are willing to dedicate the necessary time and resources to meet the needs of an urban school district.

How to Apply for Teaching and Guest Teaching Positions
If you are interested in joining our team as a full-time teacher or guest teacher, please complete an application at www.ohreap.net. Upon completing the application, please call the Certified Personnel office and let us know you have submitted your application. You must also email Personnel Director Barbara Quackenbush, bquackenbush@newarkcityschools.org, with your information and the position for which you are applying.

How to Apply for Classified Positions
If you are interested in working in the school district as a member of our support staff (secretary, bus driver, custodian, aide or food service), please complete the application that you can download here: Application. We do not, however, post many full-time classified positions because we fill those jobs from our pool of substitute employees. Upon completing an application, please bring it to the Administrative Service Center, 621 Mount Vernon Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.
